Oldhurst 

The small ring village of Oldhurst was once on the main road between Huntingdon and Chatteris but has now been bypassed by the A141 returning the village to a quiet rural setting. Back in the 13th Century the village was called Waldhyrst meaning trees on the hill, the village is still on the hill above the fens but the trees have long since gone.

The Parish Council is the level of local government in Huntingdonshire nearest to the people of Oldhurst. The old parishes were formed at a time when there was little difference, to the local people, between the Church and the State. A parish like Oldhurst usually formed around a village or other small community and used to be centred around the Parish Church. In the late 1800s Church and State separated but the same area is now represented as a local authority by the Oldhurst Parish Council and the Church of England by the Parochial Church Council.
