Woodhurst 

Set upon a ridge of high ground above the fens of Huntingdonshire, Woodhurst is an ancient Saxon Ring Village that retains all of its English rural charm including its village pond and village water pump, although the later has not been used for providing drinking water to the village for quite a while. The 12th Century Church of St John the Baptist has a most unusual squat tower barely higher than the roof of the nave.

Although services in the village of Woodhurst are very limited there is still a great sense of community and much of village life continues in Woodhurst much has it has done over preceding centuries.

The Parish Council is the level of local government in Huntingdonshire nearest to the people of Woodhurst. The old parishes were formed at a time when there was little difference, to the local people, between the Church and the State. A parish like Woodhurst usually formed around a village or other small community and used to be centred around the Parish Church. In the late 1800s Church and State separated but the same area is now represented as a local authority by the Woodhurst Parish Council and the Church of England by the Parochial Church Council.
