The gateway to Britain, first recorded use by Julius Caesar in 55 BC but it's a lot easier now with the Channel Tunnel. Kent is known as the Garden of England and location of Canterbury Cathedral, Surrey is the county of big houses whilst much of Sussex is so good it's the South Downs National Park.
Brighton and Hove to the south have been for a long time the resort towns to London and site of the Royal Pavilion built in 1787 by the Prince of Wales, later George IV. To the north is Medway, guardian of the Thames with its massive Naval Base at Chatham, also the location of Gad's Hill Place, the home of Charles Dickens, and the scene of many of his books.
