Holidays in Britain and Northern Ireland

We are currently rebuilding this section for the 2008 season

As the world knows the British are a nation of travellers and the facilities for touring and taking a vacation in the United Kingdom are well developed and there are many opportunities for you to satisfy your needs. We've selected a number of the best agents and service providers to assist you making your choice of holiday or vacation.

Visiting or taking your holiday in Britain and Northern Ireland

The green and pleasant land, the Brolly (Umbrella) and the Wellington Boot are ample evidence that one cannot rely upon the British weather but then the locals are used to having their fish and chips in the rain and if you normally live in the Sahara it's quite a novelty. However it is not for the climate that Britain receives millions of visitors each year, the heritage and culture of these small islands is what attracts them. The country houses and great estates are all famous for their gardens that really would not be here if it were not for the rain.

If you are a non-resident visiting the UK you can save yourself a fortune and get instant access to 600+ visitor attractions and historic sites by purchasing a Great British Heritage Pass prior to leaving home. Follow the link or click the banner below for further details of this great offer...

Visitor Attractions

We have an extensive section all about the major attractions in the whole country with further details of  smaller attractions at lower levels throughout the website. We are finding new items about Great Britain all the time so check back here and see what we have added since you last visited.

Event and their Venues

From Football, the FA Cup, to Horse Racing, the Derby and the Grand National, Badminton Horse Trials, the Welsh National Eisteddfod, the Trooping of the Colour, the Edinburgh Tattoo and hundreds of other uniquely British events or perhaps simply the ability to tour around our beautiful countryside at a slower pace than normal is what attracts. Anyway we'll go into all of this in detail in due course and perhaps encourage you, if your already here, to take your vacation at home or come and visit us from some distant shore.

Transport and moving about the country

The first choice for the traveller is to choose the mode of transport and you will generally be well provided for by what we call 'public transport', these are the Planes, Trains, Ferries, Taxi's, Buses and Coaches. If you're heading into one of the major cities then you are advised to use these services as you will find parking difficult and VERY expensive especially in the capital, London.

If however you intend to stay out of the cities the car is a good alternative which affords you the freedom you are looking for. You can check out the hire prices available. An extensive network of motorways (freeways) exists but once again once you get close to your destination you are advised to seek the lower class roads and enjoy the British countryside.
