A topographic map, sometimes referred to as a physical map or a terrain map, of England (Clicking on Wales or the English National Parks will take you to larger scale maps)

Physically England tends to lean towards the south-east with the higher ground of Dartmoor and Exmoor in the south-west and the Cumbrian National Park in the north-west. With prevailing winds coming from the western, Atlantic, side of the county there is somewhat of a rain shadow as one move progressively eastwards.
