We will visit your site and review the content whilst it is considered for inclusion into a relevant section of our site. This process can take quite a while, especially if we are busy. For your information we have noted what we consider to be a "good site" and the types of "allowed content" which you can refer to from the menu on the left.
Official Local Government sites are encouraged to read the notes for Public Sector Websites (this includes Town and Parish Councils), in addition we are now ready to publish links from other GOOD sites from across the United Kingdom. The British Towns and Villages Network is a geographic community directory. This service favours local sites covering a specific area or sites covering a topic or service that is specific to a particular area. In order to comply with our Terms and Conditions all commercial websites must have a UK postal address clearly displayed on their website. We do not include any anonymous commercial sites.
You need to include a couple paragraphs of readable text, not a list of keywords, with your request that describes the content and subject of your site including the name of your site once within the text. This text must be UNIQUE and must not appear anywhere else on the Internet. If we or Google discover duplicated content we will remove you entry. It will benefit you if you spend some time on this and think about what you are writing that would encourage users to visit your site.
If you wish to link to us because you think our site may be of use to the users of your site we request that you use the code that we supply so that our sites are linked at the point of common content, that is your location. Search engines prefer links between sites to be contextually relevant to one another, so do we. You can obtain this code from the application forms at your physical location page on our website, you will notice this code has a rel="nofollow" in part of it to maintain the contextual nature of the link.
You can get more information about linking from Google's Webmaster Guidelines
The decision to include your site will be made solely by British Towns Network. If we agree to include your site we will notify you by email when we do so giving you the URL location of the link.. No rights to inclusion are implied in any way and the British Towns Network may remove the inclusion at any time for whatever reason it may choose.
The British Towns and Villages Network is in constant development and as such an inclusion may be moved to a new location at any time. As our content expands, new maps of greater detail will be drawn and relevant items will be moved to the new location.
