Firstly, we endeavour to ensure that the site can be used regardless of whatever browser you use and also what resolution you have your browser set to, however like all these things it is better with some than others. The site has been designed around Microsoft IE 6 and the latest Firefox browser, which you can download by clicking the link below, at a resolution of 800*600.

As you can see we also aspire to Bobby AAA rating. This is a constant challenge as the pages are changing all the time. We are committed to ensuring that there is equal access to this site by everyone regardless of ability. We apologise, up front, for the times when a code error or new item causes a disruption to this access no human system has yet been developed that is perfect and we are sure that includes us too, however we will continue to use our best efforts to maintain as high a standard as we can at all times. With regard to the site content - What will you find here?

The purpose of this site is to provide a directory of the towns and villages in the United Kingdom and where we can find them link to either the "official" Web site for that location. This is fairly easy for the Counties and Districts as we provide a link to every Local Authority Web site. Visitors to the site who are not resident in the UK will find these links will provide a vast amount of information regarding the region they administer including sections specifically for the tourist.

There are individual pages on this site for each and every Borough or District whereupon you will find a list of every town and village located within the Borough or District. The town or village names may have hyperlinks that will take you off this site to either the "official" Web site for that location or to the best Web site we can find that covers the location. All along the way you will find much additional information that have added to make your visit to this site more enjoyable and informative. Follow this link for an explanation of the area and administrative structure of the United Kingdom.

As you dig deeper into the site the maps become more detailed, you will also find an increasing number of both new and old photographs that are relevant to the page you are using. Each location page shows particular attractions and events in that area. The national pages have national events and attractions whereas the local pages have local events and attractions.

Many of the major section pages also carry a "side menu" that conduct two purposes.

Usually at the top of the menu are links to new sub-sections. For example this illustration is the side menu of the ENGLAND section. The links in the menu will take you to major attractions and events in England, to information about the Ancient English Tribes and the Tribal Kingdoms and also to a Physical map of England. (You will find similar information about each of the countries that make up the United Kingdom.

Below this are text links, these links repeat graphical links on the main part of the page, for example on the maps. These text links can be used by all but are provided as part of our policy to provide "access for all" as persons with vision impairment can access the text easier than images like maps.
