This section of the British Towns and Villages website contains and displays images of many types from all over the United Kingdom to form a British National Image Library. There are currently 9,847 images in the library from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and some of our off-shore dependencies and territories and they can be located and viewed in a number of different ways.

All that was not created by human kind but including things altered by our presence.

Primarily the images here are displayed in a series of galleries which you may access using the menu immediately above, each of which will give you a narrower choice to help you find the type of image you are looking for. The last choice will be from a display of thumbnail images of the subject selected.
Many of the images in the British National Image Library are also accessible by their location. Simply go to Find places in the UK and seek the location of your choice. Images are shown at the bottom of each page at Town/Parish level.
We have added the ability for us to be able to publish pictures about Great Britain or the British that do not relate directly to a specific location. You will find this type of image in our British National Image Library Special Image Collections which you may access using the menu on the left.
There are two other main repositories of images on this site: one is an Album of Stately Homes the other is within the Flora and Fauna Database
