The Old Beneficial School is a beautiful grade 2 listed building dating back to the Georgian period. It was one of the first free schools in the country but its upper floors once housed a club and concert hall, where, interestingly enough, Charles Dickens' mother went into labour with him.

The refurbished building will house a theatre and cafe, as well as drama and television studios all of which are available to hire.
