Only really large buildings or large mail users have an individual code unit all to themselves. Usually code units are shared between a number of different premises.

It is worth to note at this point that in a built up area an individual Post Code will represent a handful of houses all within a few 100 metres of each other whereas a Post Code unit in a remote or rural area may represent a group of dwellings many miles apart.
