Sawbridgeworth Fire Brigade History
The website of Sawbridgeworth Fire Brigade (History) sets out to describe how the fire brigade was initially formed and developed over the years from the late 1800's through to the late 1960's and beyond. It also sets out to show how the original Fire Brigade were closely linked with the Town and how those serving in the brigade gave a unique service to the community, in a number of instances, over many years. A great many photographs of the Brigade and the Town are included which have been augmented by the donation of extra photographs by other contributors, who are individually acknowledged. Because many early photographs existed, from the library of the webmaster, of the town these too have been published to record how the Town has changed since the turn of the 20th century. There is a considerable amount of downloadable information on the site which is aimed at historians who are doing research on Fire Brigades as well as pure interest for those who might wish to track if relations etc. were involved in the brigade.
The site remains open for additional information and photographs, particularly the webmaster would be interested in any professional or amateur films of the Fire Brigade as it is known that both these have existed in the past.
