The main settlement in this the most westerly parish in Devon, is known as
Hartland Town. Hartland Parish church is 2 m west of it at Stoke St Nectan ( a
lofty tower, and inside a 15th Century rood screen). Beyond is Hartland Quay -
which has now vanished, leaving only the rocks to provide uneasy berthing.
Remarkable coast, especially around Hartland Point, where westerly gales carry
the spray over the 300 ft cliffs. A stream jumps to the sea at Milsome
Waterfalls.
