Acceptable images

  1. Inanimate objects; like local views, buildings, parks and gardens, etc.
  2. Public events. (Please do not include the names of any minors (children) in the image description/text)
  3. Unusual activities, weather conditions, flood or other natural or un-natural calamity
  4. Local pictures that other of our website users would consider interesting

Unacceptable images

  1. Any image that could be considered unsuitable for the general audience of this website, i.e. of an adult nature.
  2. Any image that shows any person or persons in a derogatory or defamatory manner
  3. Personal portraits unless they are of a news worthy status, for example someone's 100th birthday - BUT YOU MUST HAVE THEIR PERMISSION to submit it to us.

In submitting an image or text to this site the submitter warrants that either they own the copyright or have the permission of the rightful copyright owner to submit the said image and/or text to this site. The copyright of any submitted material remains with the copyright owner, however the submitter or submitter acting as agent on behalf of the copyright owner grants the British Towns and Villages Network, its agents and affiliates free and permanent licence to use and display in the public domain.

All submissions are subject to our General Terms and Conditions. Most user submissions are inspected by the staff of the British Towns and Villages website before they are released for public viewing although some trusted users have immediate publication rights.

How to do it

  1. On your computer select the images you wish to upload. It will probably easier to place them in a separate directory so you know which ones you have sent to us.
  2. Make sure that none of them are bigger than 10Mb in size BUT do not make them too small, around 800 pixels largest dimension dimension is best.
  3. Type in your email address and PIN code into the form above
  4. Click on BROWSE and locate one of the images on your computer and click on it's name. The URL of where it is on your computer will appear in the "Your Image" box
  5. Type in a title for your image. Please do not use all capital letters.
  6. Type in a short description of the image, that is "what do you see when you look at it", just imagine that someone cannot see and you are describing your picture to them.
  7. Press UPLOAD
  8. Repeat as often as you wish, with different images of course!

 

MISUSE OF COMPUTERS ACT

Please remember it is unlawful to make;

  1. Unauthorised access to computer material (that is, a program or data).
  2. Unauthorised access to a computer system with intent to commit or facilitate the commission of a serious crime.
  3. Unauthorised modification of computer material.

The Act defines (1) (the basic offence) as a summary offence punishable on conviction with a maximum prison sentence of six months or a maximum fine of £2,000 or both. We treat any and all attempts to hack or misuse our systems with the utmost seriousness and will immediately report each and every occurrence of such to the proper authorities.
