A large photograph image dated around 1941 of Wreck of SS Barnhill at Pevensey Bay, UK.

In March 1940 she was bombed by a German Dornier in the English Channel, the first bomb is reported to have fallen down the funnel, a second through the plate decking. After drifting on fire and listing to starboard she finally came ashore at Pevensey Bay where she broke in two, her cargo of tinned food falling out from her.
