Charlotte was the name that she used, she was the daughter of General. Rt. Hon. Sir William Thomas Knollys (1797-1883) and Elizabeth St. Aubyn (1815-1878).  Charlotte never married, she joined the Princess of Wales household as a Women of the Bedchamber staying on when she became Queen Alexandra.  She was granted the rank of a Barons daughter by royal warrant in 1901.  Her death was registered at St George's Church, Hanover Square in London
