Stone circles, Silbury Hill, Windmill Hill, and a well-known Museum. Avebury is one of the essential places to visit in Wessex; and the visit should certainly include the brief walk to the top of Windmill Hill, if not for the archaeological remnants then for the superb panorama of the ancient countryside of the Beaker folk. There is excellent walking on the downs both on the Marlborough and the Devizes side of the village.
8 ½ north east of Devizes.
