My mother was born in the lovely village of Whittle. All the Predergasts and the Bibbys lived there. The Predergasts were bargees on the canal and all the children went to school at Whittle.
My mother lived in a beautiful cottage at Copthurst she used to tell me stories of going over the fields to the farm for milk. The calico factory is were most of them worked and I still have a bobbin from there and a photo of my mum holding it.
Every time I come to UK from West Australia I always visit this lovely part of Lancashire. Do you know, you DO have a feel of where you come from, it is just in your roots.
