My birth place in 1945 Hedenham born at The Mermaid.
My granfather was William Barker the Blacksmith and Licensse of the Mermaid from 1937.
His wifes maiden name was Georgie Selina Day,they use to reside at the Old Forge in Church Street.
They married in 1908,and my mothers maiden name was winifred may barker and born in 1919.
I had good times at hedenham using the old water pump opposite the mermaid.
The water in the kitchen of the mermaid came also from a hand pump over he sink.
Watching the convoy of traction engines passing the mermaid.
