At the tender age of eight his family was forced to leave London and move to East Anglia where Terry?s love of the countryside began. With no more lines of houses in busy streets and fear of bomb raids he experienced the joy of living in fresh safe air and also his first childhood romance with his sweetheart Joy Marsh with whom he played for long hours. He embraced life in Woodbridge and through his father?s influence had links with Seckford Hall where for a while his father was NAAFI manager, with Woodbridge Town where he lived, the river Deben where he fished, the streets where he played leading to the joys of VE Day sitting on the steps of the Shire Hall joining in with the celebrations.
