Emergency Exercise at National Grid’s St Fergus Gas Terminal

National Grid’s gas terminal at St Fergus will be carrying out a multi agency emergency exercise on the evening of Wednesday 14th November 2012.

The exercise will start at 18:45 and last for approximately two hours.

The exercise is part of the statutory obligation under COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) Regulations 1999, to ensure the appropriate and consistent response is taken during an incident at the gas terminal.

All emergency services will be involved.

THE GENERAL PUBLIC WILL NOT BE INVOLVED IN THIS EXERCISE.

Residents however, may notice extra activity in the area of the gas terminal, as emergency vehicles go to site and National Grid’s site alarms will sound.

The emergency services will come to National Grid’s site but may also be stationed at the rendezvous points along the A90.

The terminal will continue to operate as normal whilst the exercise is taking place.

You can expect the following activity but should not be alarmed – this is just an exercise:

• The sounding of National Grid’s site alarms
• Emergency service vehicles going to and from the gas terminal complex

This exercise is for the emergency services and National Grid’s gas terminal staff only. The general public will not be involved.
