Historical notes about the Town of Omagh

Omagh, (Co. Tyrone)

The county town of Tyrone, Omagh is beautifully situated on the River Strule and is a market centre for a wide countryside and the seat of several small industries. Much wild moorland country attractive to sportsmen lies north of Omagh. Near Omagh is the home of the family of Field Marshal Sir Claude Auchinleck, another Ulster Field Marshal.
