Historical notes about the Town of Ballynahinch

Ballynahinch, (Co. Down)

A market town serving a wide countryside in the centre of Down, an important egg marketing centre. The scene of a small battle in the rebellion of 1798, and the final defeat of the Northern rebels. Near the town is the inland holiday resort of Ballynahinch Spa, and the mountain area of Slieve Croob. The attractive landscape around Ballynahinch is variegated with many little glacial ‘drumlins’.
