Mumbles is Swansea’s most popular seaside and residential suburb. It lies in a wide opening of the cliffs curving to Mumbles Head and includes the village of Oystermouth. Bells in All Saints’ Church came from Santiago Cathedral when it was burned down, and in the graveyard lies Thomas Bowdler, whose editing of well-known books added the “Bowdlerise” to the English language.
Mumbles was once part of the county of Glamorganshire but is now administered as part of the county borough of Swansea.
